| | Introduction | Enterprise Security Solutions (ESS) is the second of two courses that are required for the Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA) credential from the Security Certified Program (SCP). The ESS course, along with Advanced Security Implementation (ASI) will prepare an individual for the exams (Enterprise Security Implementation: SC0-501, and The Solution Exam: SC0-502) required to attain the SCNA credential.
Enterprise Security Solutions begins with a discussion of the needs and requirements of building a trusted network. From there the course moves into an examination of Certificate Policies and Certificate Practice Statements, key to the planning and design of a trusted network. Lesson Three walks through the procedures of configuring Microsoft CAs, stand-alone and as the root. Lesson Four picks up where three ends, only this time the lesson is focused on the creation and configuration of a CA running on Linux. After the CAs have been configured, the course moves into the management of digital certificates, including their use and configuration on Smart Cards. Next, the course examines the procedures available for securing local resources, including encryption and biometrics. Lesson Seven is a detailed look at Wireless networks, and how to create a secure wireless network in the enterprise. Following lesson seven is a discussion on securing Email, including the use of S/MIME and PGP. Finally, the course ends with a lab on building a trusted network, where the tasks and concepts of both the ASI and ESS book are brought together to build a network based on trust. |
